Gisteren verscheen dit artikeltje op het Britse METRO: “Give up that law degree now, because one study believes lawyers will be replaced by robots before 2030”.

Uit onderzoek van Jomati Consultants zou blijken dat “several ‘white collar’ jobs are at risk of being taken over by robots within the next 15 years“.
Volgens de METRO vermeldt het rapport onder meer dat: ‘Eventually each bot would be able to do the work of a dozen low-level associates. They would not get tired. They would not seek advancement. They would not ask for pay rises. Process legal work would rapidly descend in cost.’
De Jomati consultants beargumenteren dat de ‘human part of lawyering’ hierdoor drastisch zal worden verminderd, hetgeen (op termijn) kan leiden tot een “‘structural collapse’ of several law firms“.
De gedachte uit het onderzoek is dat advocatenkantoren uiteindelijk zullen bestaan uit “a few high level employees and partners”, while the mechanical servants do all the ground work.”
Jomati claimt volgens de METRO dat dit business modellen in de advocatuur compleet zal gaan omgooien. Het artikel eindigt met: “one thing is for certain, this is going to make John Grisham’s books either very dull or very very exciting.”
